Jil Sander
A collection of minimalist and sophisticated essentials.
Jil Sander is a German designer of international renown born in 1943, a minimalist fashion leader. Although she founded her eponymous fashion house in 1968 in Hamburg, she only presented her first collection in 1973. Refined aesthetics, refined cuts and games of proportions, Jil Sander revolutionized the fashion of her time with minimalist and monochrome silhouettes.
At the dawn of the 2000s, Jil Sander was bought by the Prada group. The designer announces her departure at the same time. However, she returned to artistic direction between 2003 and 2005 before being succeeded by the Belgian Raf Simons who will officiate in this position until 2012. The designer then signs her comeback in the house she founded, now owned by the Japanese group Onward Luxury Group (OLG). Unfortunately, in 2014, for personal reasons, she permanently passed her hand to Italian Rodolfo Paglialunga.
Since 2017, it was the couple of creators Lucie and Mike Meier who took the reins of the style of the Jil Sander house. If the first made its arms at Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga and Dior, the second-founder of the Male brand Oamc-was for almost ten years the artistic director of the famous New York label Supreme. Today, they reaffirm the spirit of the Jil Sander woman together and restores her superb by instilling her a breath of freshness. "Our objective is to offer good pieces for the present, with a particular care given to the subjects so that they last and, at the same time, that they remain relevant in five years" they said in an interview with Mrs. Figaro magazine in February 2018. By playing the card of the purity and sobriety, the creative duo respects and thus perpetuates the founding myths of the house.
